VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A multi-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality Monday night in Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach police responded to the crash around 6:45 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of North Great Neck Road near Shorehaven Drive.
Investigators determined a Ford truck traveling northbound on N. Great Neck Road veered into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on. The impact pushed that vehicle into another one traveling southbound and police say additional vehicles were struck by debris.
The driver of the Ford truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A man in the other vehicle that was hit head-on died from his injuries. Police identified him Tuesday as 58-year-old John Hefti of Virginia Beach.
The crash remains under investigation.
