VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An early morning crash in Virginia Beach sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Just before 6 a.m. Saturday, a vehicle traveling east on I-264 ran off the road, crashed through a guardrail and landed in a body of water near Exit 15, according to Virginia State Police.
Troopers said the 20-year-old woman driving was able to get out of the vehicle on her own. She was transported to Virginia Beach General Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. She was cited with reckless driving.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department and Swift Water Rescue divers assisted with removing the vehicle from the water. Divers also confirmed no one else was in the vehicle.
This crash remains under investigation.
