VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Bryant & Stratton College is partnering with the ViBe District in Virginia Beach for a mural contest for a 50% tuition scholarship.

The contest focuses on Hampton Roads high schoolers graduating in ’25 or ’26 and returning adult students.

The winner will be selected to paint an eight foot by 28 foot mural at Bryant & Stratton’s Virginia Beach campus for their 170th anniversary in September. According to a release, Bryant & Stratton will cover the cost of supplies and paint for the creation of the mural.

In addition to painting a mural, the winner will also receive a 50% tuition scholarship for a degree at Bryant & Stratton for themselves or a student of their choice, or a $2,000 cash award.

Artists are asked to design a mural to reflect the college’s 170th anniversary and their mission to offer “personalized career education and experience leading to high-demand professions, so graduates are prepared for their career and life pursuits.” For inspiration on a possible design, artists are encouraged to visit Bryant & Stratton’s website and social media pages on Facebook Instagram and X.

All artists interested in the contest are asked to submit one or two horizontal landscape mural concepts on Bryant & Stratton’s website here.

The deadline to apply for the contest is Friday, Sept. 6 at 12 p.m. Winners will be notified by Monday, Sept. 9.

The winning muralist is scheduled to paint during the month of September, with a completion deadline of Tuesday, Oct. 1.
