VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Florida man is facing charges after police say he and two women were injured during a weekend incident in Virginia Beach.

Virginia Beach police said officers were called to the 1500 block of Bunsen Drive shortly after 9:45 p.m. on Saturday for a reported shooting.

Responding officers found two women at the scene with “blunt force trauma injuries” and a suspect, a man, who had been shot.

The suspect, 65-year-old Henry Frank Herbig of Pace, Florida, was later charged with aggravated malicious wounding and breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony.

Initial reports said that Herbig assaulted one of the two victims, then went inside the home and began assaulting the second victim.

The first victim was able to get a hold of a firearm and shot Herbig in self defense.

Officials said that Herbig and the victims know each other.

The two victims will not face any charges in the incident.

Herbig and one of the two women were taken to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries following the incident. The second woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
