NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An in-cabin camera captured the moment a Chesapeake truck driver fired shots at another driver on the interstate in Florida.
Dylan Nissan Belleastin, 43, was arrested on Wednesday by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Ocala, Florida, on charges of shooting a missile into a vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and displaying a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Authorities say the shooting happened on Sunday, March 3 on southbound Interstate 75. They responded to a Love’s Travel Stop in Ocala for the report of shots fired and spoke with the victim.
The victim said he was heading southbound on I-75 when Belleastin threw a water bottle at his truck. The victim says he then pulled over to confront Belleastin, but eventually decided against it and drove away.
However, Belleastin followed and eventually pulled up beside him and fired shots, authorities say. The victim said he then returned fire out of fear for his own ife.
After investigating, a Marion County deputy was able to identify Belleastin and get the cabin dash camera video from his truck.
“The footage clearly depicted him shooting at the victim at two separate times,” the sheriff’s office says. “Belleastin also retrieved a second handgun and pointed it at the victim without firing.”
Belleastin remains at the Marion County Jail without bond.
