After investigating, it was revealed that the suspect, 23-year-old Joseph Fabula, attacked and held the victim, his 78-year-old grandmother and caretaker, against her will.

Investigators said 23-year-old Joseph Fabula became angry and tried to smother his grandmother by lying on top of her with his six foot two, 300 pound body.

Court documents then reveal the grandmother was able to wiggle herself free before Fabula began kicking and punching her in the head with a closed fist. Fabula then allegedly locked the door and told his grandmother, “I’m going to break your neck, and then I’ll break your back.”

The victim then responded, saying, “Oh God help me,” to which Fabula stated, “God is not going to help you. I’m going to send you to hell.”

Documents then state both Fabula and the victim grabbed knives, where a chase began around the kitchen with Fabula chasing the victim while attempting to stab her. After being cornered, the victim then stabbed Fabula in the chest.

As a result, 23-year-old Joseph Bradley Fabula was arrested and charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated malicious wounding and abduction. He is due back in court Sept. 3.

No information on the status of the victim has been released at this time.
