SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A helicopter crash in Surry County is currently under investigation by the Virginia State Police (VSP).

The crash happened Saturday just before 1 p.m. near White Marsh Road.

Troopers say a private helicopter crashed into the woods. Two people were on board the helicopter when it crashed.

Both the pilot and the passenger were transported to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond with non life-threatening injuries.

According to VSP, the private helicopter was contracted by Dominion Energy.

VSP says the FAA was on the scene to investigate the crash, but agency does not know if the NTSB will be conducting an investigation.

This investigation remains ongoing, officials say.
