SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 10 Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the crash occurred around 4:11 a.m. near Magnolia Circle on Route 10.
State police said a 2015 Volkswagen was headed eastbound on Colonial Trail and was unable to avoid a pedestrian in the lane. The pedestrian, 67-year-old Ahmed F. Ahmed, died at the scene.
Police said Ahmed was not wearing reflective clothing at the time of the crash.
All eastbound and westbound lanes were temporarily closed as a result of the crash. All lanes have since reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
