SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Western Tidewater Free Clinic will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for its dental expansion.

The expansion project added nearly 1,000 square feet and increased the number of dental chairs from two to four.

Currently, the clinic serves about 700 dental patients per year. The expansion is expected to accommodate and additional 200 patients in the first year.

The project also includes the additional of new behavioral health room where telehealth services will be available.

“We’re pleased to expand our patient capacity as well as the services we offer,” said Ashley Greene, Executive Director of Western Tidewater Free Clinic. “The need for more dental services as well as behavioral health has grown and we’re so happy we can do more to meet this need. We’re thankful to our donors who helped make this possible.”

Western Tidewater Free Clinic is open to individuals who have no dental or medical insurance or Medicaid dental benefits, are not eligible for Medicare or VA benefits, and live at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. Additionally, they must be residents of Suffolk, Franklin and the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry and Sussex.

The ribbon cutting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. at 2019 Meade parkway.
