SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Suffolk Sheriff’s Office is warning resident’s about scam calls.

Officials at the sheriff’s office were made aware of a fraudulent scheme that involved threats related to jury duty and warrants issued by the court.

The sheriff’s office wants residents to know that it will never use intimidation tactics to threaten individuals for missing jury duty.

Additionally, law enforcement agencies will never request payments over the phone to cancel a warrant.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call, and is uncertain about its legitimacy, should call the sheriff’s office at 757-514-7840.
