SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 40-year-old Suffolk man’s family is mourning his loss and remembering his dedication to whatever he did in life after he was struck by a vehicle and killed on Pruden Boulevard in Suffolk Wednesday evening.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., Suffolk Police responded to a report of a traffic crash in the 2300 block of Pruden Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle traveling on Pruden Boulevard had struck a pedestrian who was trying to cross the road. The driver stayed on scene.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to perform life-saving measures, but the man identified as Travis Lassiter was pronounced dead.
In a statement, Lassister’s family remembered him as someone who always displayed dedication.
“There are so many words we could use to describe Travis but one that comes to mind is dedication! He was dedicated to his job as a chef at Hilton, his singing, his jokes, but most importantly his Son! The family is at a complete loss right now but we dare not question God! The amount of positivity coming from everyone he encountered speaks values of his character! He will truly be missed in the physical but his spirit of laughter and song will continue to dwell in our hearts! Fly high Travis, I will continue your works my Brother!”

The crash is under investigation and there is no additional information at this time.
