SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Police are investigating a double shooting that left a woman dead and a man injured late Sunday night.
Emergency communications was notified around 10:14 p.m. for a report of an attempted robbery in the 6300 block of Townsend Place, in the Burbage Grant area near Harbour View.
Officials say the person that called in the attempted robbery was in his vehicle when two unknown individuals wearing masks walked up to his vehicle and showed guns. The caller fled the scene.
Before officers arrived at Townsend Place, police located a vehicle with bullet holes in the 6500 block of Hampton Roads Parkway, at a shopping center that includes The COVE veterinary clinic. A woman and man were located with gunshot wounds.
The woman, identified Monday as 40-year-old Tameisha Goode Rogers, was pronounced deceased on scene. The man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition.

The suspects were in a vehicle described as a late model, gold-colored Ford Taurus.
10 On Your Side found Suffolk police searching for evidence like shell casings at the scene.
“People unknown to them displayed firearms. I do not know what was said or inferred, but the implication was that something was going to take place, and then they called it in as an attempted armed robbery,” Suffolk police spokesman Tim Kelley said.
It all began at Townsend Place at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
“The two people in the car, a male and female, drove away from the two people who approached them. They drove down the street and called the Suffolk Police Department to report it was an attempted armed robbery,” Kelley said.
The victims fled in their car away from gunfire, and then took a right on Respass Beach Road,
“The suspects fired at the victim’s vehicle multiple times, striking the vehicle, and striking both the people inside,” Kelley added.
The two made it about 1.5 miles until they came to a rest in the shopping center. Police found them on the way to the Townsend Place address.
“The two victims were in the vehicle and both had been struck. The vehicle had been struck as well. We contacted the fire department and they responded as well,” Kelley said.
On Monday morning, police came back to the scene leaving flyers in doors that have surveillance cameras asking them to check their cameras.
“If they have any information or any camera footage from homes or anything like this, that can shed some additional light on this situation we need to receive them,” Kelley said.
