Lane closures on US-58 kickstart new overpass construction

(WFXR)

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) –Drivers on US-58 will see a slight increase in congestion as crews work to build a new off-ramp to the SPSA entrance on Bob Foeller Drive.

People working their way eastbound on US-58 trying to get to the SPSA plant won’t have to use the paved median anymore when the project is complete. An overpass will be built over top of the US-58 westbound lanes. Drivers can expect traffic pattern changes and roadwork until about spring 2025.

Starting Sept. 24, single-lane closures will be in place going both directions. Later in the project, the continuous single-lane closures will be moved from the outside lanes to the inside lanes.

In addition, two lanes will close every night between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until the right-lane closures are in place.

Drivers are advised to drive with caution and stay alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
