SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — With so many local holiday activities a new entertainment venue is just the icing on the cake.
An outdoor ice skating rink is coming to Downtown Festival Park at 215 W. Washington St., Suffolk, according to Suffolk Parks & Recreation.
“We are excited to be a part of bringing a new venue to the Suffolk area just in time for the holidays,” commented Mark Watkins, Vice President of Marketing at Glo Fiber. “Glo Fiber is dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities in which we serve and view the ice skating rink as the perfect place for people to connect and celebrate.”
The rink opens beginning Sunday, Dec. 1. Children, 12 years and under, must be accompanied by an adult. Provided skates must be used. Personal skates are not permitted. Skating aids and helmets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The rink will be open to the public Thursdays through Sundays. Private group rentals will be available Mondays through Wednesdays.
Admission is $5 per hour session for those 13-years and older. Children 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian 18-years and older. The parent/guardian is not required to skate, but must remain at the park while the child is skating.
