SHC woman found dead in Suffolk was killed by ‘multiple sharp force injuries’

SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Officials say a missing Southampton County woman who was found in dead in Suffolk earlier this year died of “multiple sharp force injuries.”

The Tidewater Medical Examiner’s Office said Cynthia Carver’s death is now considered a homicide.

Carver was reported missing on Feb. 22, the day after she been last seen dropping her children off at a babysitter’s home. Her mother reportedly found a disturbing scene at Carver’s home that included a pool of blood near a back door and a knife in the living room.

Deputies with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office found more more blood on sheets and clothing inside Carver’s home. The sheriff’s office believe Carver was abducted.

The night before Carver went missing from her Newsoms home, her 10-year-old child heard her answer a phone call and tell a man that she would “wait up for him.”

Authorities said Carver was supposed to meet with someone on the night she disappeared, but it is unclear whether or not that meeting ever happened.

A body found in the southern part of Suffolk in March was identified as Carver.

Authorities are working to find a suspect in the case. Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s office at 757-609-2482.
