NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A former Virginia congressional candidate wants a new trial, and her fraud conviction thrown out. 

Shaun Brown’s lawyers filed the motion in Norfolk federal court on Wednesday.

Brown claims she didn’t get a fair trial because three of the jurors lived in Williamsburg, which is in the district she ran to represent. 

Investigators say Brown defrauded the USDA Summer Food Service Program of $800,000 in 2012. 

Her sentencing is set for next month.
