VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — One person has been injured following what police said is a serious crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle on Salem Road in Virginia Beach Thursday, police said.

The call for the crash came in around 5:27 p.m. for a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle in the 1900 block of Salem Road. Police said a motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Virginia Beach Police’s Traffic Safety Unit is on the scene investigating.

Police said the 1900 block of Salem Road between Salem Lakes Boulevard, just past Salem Elementary School, and Rock Lake Loop, is currently closed.

Police ask drivers to follow detours that have been put in place.
