NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – If you live or work on the Virginia Peninsula, city officials encourage you to attend an upcoming public forum focused on regional homelessness.

The goal of the forums is for community members to discuss the results of a Virginia Peninsula Homelessness Study and learn about potential impacts and solutions. Viam Advising, a Houston-based organization specializing in homelessness solutions, was contracted by the City of Newport News to conduct the study.

Forum Schedule:

“This is a critical step in understanding homelessness in our community,” said Ginger Blount-Moore, Newport News Assistant City Manager. “Community input is vital, and these forums are an opportunity for residents to help shape strategies that reflect the distinct challenges and needs of the Virginia Peninsula region.”

Following the forums, Viam Advising will compile a comprehensive report based on community feedback and data from the survey. Details of this report will be presented to the public in the coming months.

The Virginia Peninsula Homelessness Study Survey was open to anyone living or working in the peninsula (Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County, or York County).
