PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — There’s an array of ways to celebrate Pride Month this June across the greater Hampton Roads region.

Events kick off June 1-2 with Portsmouth, Newport News and Suffolk’s Pride events.

Things culminate with Hampton Roads Pride’s biggest events: Hampton Roads PrideFest and its boat parade on June 22 at Town Point Park in Norfolk and Pride at the Beach on June 23 in Virginia Beach.

Portsmouth Pride Festival: June 1

Pride Month kicks off big on June 1 with Portsmouth Pride in Olde Towne, outside the Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion. It runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes music, food and rinks, vendors and more. It’s free and open to the public.

There’s also a Pride Kickoff event on June 1 at MJ’s Tavern in Norfolk. That starts at 10 a.m.

Newport News Pride, the I AM What I am Pride Festival: June 2

2024 marks the second year of Newport News’ Pride festival. The collaboration event between Hampton Roads Pride and Tradition Brewing Co. will feature performances by the Red Stapler Duo, The King and Queens of Dance and all the all-female Journey cover band, Girl Can’t Help It! Suffolk Pride: June 2

The 4th annual Suffolk Pride goes from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 at Bennett’s Creek Park. It’s free to attend and features live music, food, and even private boat rides on the water.

Phabulous Phoebus (Hampton Pride): June 8

The free event runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Mellen Street in Phoebus with live music, drinks, food and more.

Pride in the ‘Peake (Chesapeake Pride): June 9

This is the third annual Pride in the ‘Peake, an all ages event in Chesapeake that features live music, food trucks face painting and more. This year’s event is at Summit Pointe, Chesapeake’s version of Town Center, and will be in a street festival style.

It runs from noon to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. This comes after Chesapeake officially proclaimed June as Pride Month for the first time in 2024.

Pride Trivia!: June 20

Mudita Cafe & Bar hosts Pride Trivia from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Celebrate Pride Month with a fun evening. Test your knowledge of LGBTQ+ history, pop culture and more. The cafe is located in Norfolk at 9647 1st View St in Ocean View.

Camp Pride Block Party: June 21

The musical event features Baby Weight, DJ Anelz, DJ Kenny Cruz and DJ Coop. The event is for adults 18 and older at the Norva in Norfolk. It runs from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are still available. Dress code is Camp Pride.

Love, Surf, Pride!: June 21

Go to Painting with a Twist in Chesapeake for a pride event. Paint a gorgeous Love Surf painting. The event is for adults 18 years and older. It will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Register at the link here.

Pride Shabbat: June 21

Ohef Sholom Temple hosts Shabbat in honor of Pride. Join for a service at the temple at 6:30 p.m. at 530 Raleigh Ave. in Norfolk.

Hampton Roads PrideFest weekend: June 21-23

The biggest weekend for Pride in the region. It starts off Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m. with the 11th annual PrideFest Block Party at the NorVa and continues Saturday, June 22 starting at noon at Town Point Park with PrideFest and the boat parade.

The weekend wraps up in Virginia Beach at the 4th annual Pride at the Beach starting at 2 p.m. at Neptune’s Park.

Pride Brunch: June 22

Cure Coffeehouse hosts Pride Brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cure Norfolk, located at 503 Botetourt Street. Enjoy the limited time brunch menu and celebrate Pride.

Parking Lot Pride: June 28

The Suffolk Library presents a library pridefest for all ages at the North Suffolk Library. It will take place on June 28 from 5-8 p.m. Celebrate with activities for kids, local resources, food trucks and more. All ages are welcome. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the lobby at the library. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Garage PRIDE: June 29

The Garage Brewery is partnering with Hampton Roads Pride and will donate a portion of sales to the LGBT Life Center. Celebrate from noon to 6 p.m. with vendors, a drag show, a DJ, food trucks and more. The event is free and open to all.
