PPD: R.E.S.E.T. walk in response to Chestnut St. shootings

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Portsmouth Police Department (PPD) held a R.E.S.E.T. Walk Tuesday as a community response to two shootings that happened Sunday.

“Help your fellow neighbors take the first steps toward healing,” said PPD on Facebook.

Both of the shootings happened in the Prentis Park Neighborhood. Furthermore, both shootings happened on Chestnut Street.

The first shooting happened around 2 a.m. Police found 29-year-old, Damarcus Dildy with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

Then 4 blocks away, around 7:30 p.m., officers found a woman with a gunshot wound.
She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police have not released suspect information for either shooting.

The walk is scheduled 3 p.m. on March 19 at the intersection of Chestnut and Jefferson streets.
