19-year-old, 18-year-old & juvenile charged with murder after boy shot in Portsmouth

UPDATE: On Friday, January 21, police confirmed they took the third suspect into custody.


PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Portsmouth say they have two suspects in custody in connection with the murder of a boy Wednesday afternoon and are continuing to search for a third.

18-year-old Kwendale Glenn and a juvenile in custody have been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm, conspiracy to commit murder and firearm on school property.

19-year-old Melvon D. Parker is still wanted and is facing the same charges.

According to police, a juvenile male was shot around 3 p.m. near Manor High School, in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road. Police confirm the student was not shot on campus and that the school was dismissed prior to the incident.

The boy, who police haven’t publicly identified because he’s a juvenile, arrived at a local hospital after the shooting with life-threatening injuries. He later died, police said.
