PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead following a shooting Monday morning in a neighborhood near the Portsmouth City Park.
Officers were called to the shooting in the 10 block of Park Manor Road just before 7 a.m., which is just down the road from the park.
Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Derrick Parker, of Portsmouth. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries to his upper body, but died Monday afternoon.
The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known, but detectives ask anyone with information to give the Crime Line a call at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
