1 dead, 1 hurt following shooting in Portsmouth, suspect wanted

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are trying to track down two suspects in a fatal shooting on September 3 that left one man dead and another injured inn Portsmouth.

Police say investigators are searching for 22-year-old Johnathan Jamar Thomas and 22-year-old Marceon Javante Davis.


Thomas is charged with second-degree murder as well as other charges including malicious shooting and use of a firearm.

Davis is charged with first-degree murder, malicious shooting, use of a firearm and aggravated malicious wounding.

According to police, the call came in for the shooting just before 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Street and Green Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with a fatal gunshot wound.

He was identified on September 7 as 21-year-old Jaquan White.

In an update, police also said a second man with a non life-threatening gunshot wound was also found near the 1700 block of LaSalle Avenue. He was expected to recover.
