PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested a man for a second time in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in 2021.
Portsmouth Police originally took 25-year-old Jamel Raiquon Jones into custody in July 2021 on several charges, including first degree murder.
The charges stem from a shooting on May 31, 2021 near the 1400 block of Crawford Parkway where a 16-year-old boy was killed.
The case was later dismissed without prejudice in Portsmouth General District Court, which means the case can potentially be brought back to court. That is what happened in this case. Portsmouth Police told WAVY TV they indicted Jones and arrested him again, on the same charges.
Police say Jones was also wanted for unrelated charges, including abduction and kidnapping, assault and battery of a family member, and petit larceny.
