PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two boats caught fire Sunday morning at the Tidewater Yacht Marina on Portsmouth’s waterfront.
According to dispatch, the call came in just before 8 a.m., and a large plume of black smoke could be seen rising into the skyline.
When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found two boats tied to the dock in flames. Crews immediately began to suppress the fire and move unaffected boats away from the dock.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause is still under investigation.
Fire departments from Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Suffolk all responded, along with Navy, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Port of Virginia and Coast Guard units also responded.
