PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A police pursuit that started on Interstate 664 early Thursday morning ended after the suspect crashed into the front porch of a Hampton home, police say.

It happened around 1 a.m. after a Virginia State Police trooper tried to stop the suspect, 35-year-old Portsmouth resident Dequayon D. Brown, for speeding. Police say Brown instead drove away at high speeds.

The pursuit ended in the 2500 block of Kecoughtan Road in the Wythe area. Police say Brown tried to flee on foot but was apprehended.

Brown was charged with eluding police, felony hit-and-run, driving on a revoked license and possession of an illegal drug with intent to distribute after cocaine was found inside Brown’s vehicle.

Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
