PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A 17-year-old boy is in the hospital after a shooting in Portsmouth Friday afternoon, police said.
Around 12:50 p.m., Portsmouth police responded to a call for a shooting in the 4000 block of River Shore Road.
Upon arrival, officers found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Nearby Churchland High School and Churchland Middle School were placed on an outside hold due to the shooting, which meant dismissal was placed on hold, but has since been cleared.
