Police: Man killed in shooting at Norfolk motel

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk detectives are investigating a shooting that killed 52-year-old Charles F. Moore on the morning of Dec. 9 at a motel, police said.

Around 5:20 a.m. police were called to the Econo Lodge located at 865 N Military Hwy. for the report of a gunshot victim. They found Moore suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A woman who works nearby spoke with 10 On Your Side’s Nick Broadway on the scene via the Google Translate app since she was not comfortable with her English speaking skills. She said she saw two people standing in front of the room where the shooting would later happen. They left when she got out of her Uber near the motel.

Our news team also spoke with a staff member of the hotel who asked to remain anonymous. He said the person who was shot was a visitor, not someone staying in a room. They had to clean blood off the sheets and furniture after police removed the body from the room. As for the person who was staying there that night, the staff member recalled seeing police interview that person, but they did not arrest him.
