HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot on Interstate 664 northbound at the Aberdeen Road exit ramp in Hampton, Virginia State Police said.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim, a 30-year-old man, was driving off the exit ramp when an unknown vehicle pulled up beside him and shot at the vehicle, injuring the man, who was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the unknown vehicle that pulled up beside the man left the scene.
The Aberdeen Road exit ramp was shut down for a short period to allow the victim to be taken to the hospital, and for the police investigation. The ramp has since reopened.
The Virginia State Police is on the scene and investigating a possible shooting on I-664 going northbound, at Aberdeen Road in Hampton, police said.
State Police are looking for help in finding any witnesses who may have either seen the incident or observed any unusual behavior from a motorist either before, during or after the incident, or who may have witnessed the fleeing vehicle.
