VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — There’s a wall in the Rudee Loop area that needs an artistic overhaul.
The Virginia Beach Office of Cultural Affairs put out an open call for artists across the country to submit mural designs back in April. They’ve narrowed it down to four artists and need your help to pick a winner.
Here are the options, in alphabetical order:
Aimee Bruce from Norfolk
Sean Coffey and John Muldoon from Pittsburgh
Pepe Gaka from Italy
Christopher Warren from Colorado
You can learn more about the individual designs and vote for your favorite by clicking here. You have until May 27 to pick your favorite. The winning design will be announced the next day.
Artists were asked to create a design that would capture drive-by attention and have selfie appeal.
The winning mural will be painted onto the outside walls of the former site of the Oceanside Inn, a once-popular hotel that was demolished in 2017.
The city says the mural will be adjacent the Rudee Loop where bikers and walkers on the Rudee Walk will be able to see it. They plan to have it up in June.
