NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk announced the newest addition to their reptile collection on Monday.

Angie the green anaconda is making herself at home at the zoo’s World of Reptiles. According to National Geographic, the green anaconda is the heaviest snake in the world, weighing up to 550 pounds and growing up to 20 to 30 feet in length.

At only two years old and just five feet long, Angie has a long way to go before reaching her full potential. Virginia Zoo staff said they can’t wait to watch her grow.

Staff said Angie can typically be found under the plants in her pool, where green anacondas typically spend their time.
