Suspect in fatal Downtown Tunnel crash turns herself in

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The suspect wanted for aggravated involuntary manslaughter after going the wrong way inside the Downtown Tunnel turned herself in to police Monday.

According to officials, Dominique C. Goodwin turned herself in at approximately 10:48 a.m. to Norfolk Police at the Norfolk Police Department Police Operations Center at 3661 E. Virginia Beach Blvd.


Goodwin was subsequently taken into custody and warrants were served.

Goodwin was wanted in connection with the fatal crash that killed Shelby Riddick-Walker on Dec. 30. Initial investigations revealed that Goodwin was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane in the Downtown Tunnel driving a 2018 Volkswagen.

Goodwin then struck Shelby Riddick-Walker, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox head-on. Riddick-Walker was killed instantly in the collision.

Police say that alcohol was found to be a contributing factor to the incident.
