NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man was found dead following a shooting on E. Princess Anne Road in Norfolk Wednesday night.
Police say the shooting happened in the 5000 block near Shelton Avenue and was called in around 10:15 p.m.
A man was found dead inside a vehicle. Police have identified him as 47-year-old Thomas L. Christian.
Police say the person who did it is still out there, and as of Thursday, there were no suspects.
Police were on-scene throughout the night conducting their investigation.
Maranda Cataulin says she heard the gunshots while going for a walk. She says she lives two streets over from the crime scene.
“Just looking at the scene it’s like wow. This happened so close, I live two streets down,” said Cataulin. “It’s nothing that serious to kill someone over. If you took someone else’s child, how would you like it if someone else took yours?”
Cataulin says she heard five pops in the same area she walks her kids through everyday.
“It was my first experience seeing something like that and it’s scary, but now I know I have to keep an eye on myself… I have kids that are out here and that I take care of and I don’t want to see nothing happen to them,” said Cataulin. “It’s sad what this world is getting to nowadays.”
Correction: Police initially released the victim’s name as Christian Thomas.
