Man dies following Chesapeake Boulevard crash in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a 59-year-old man died following a crash on Chesapeake Boulevard in Norfolk Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to the crash around 4:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of Chesapeake Boulevard.

Authorities say they found three people who were suffering from injuries sustained during the crash.

Both drivers and one passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment; however, the passenger, 59-year-old, Norfolk resident Lester V. Toliver, died shortly after his arrival.

The driver of Mr. Toliver is currently in critical condition, reports say.

The other driver sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Initial investigations revealed that the vehicle carrying Toliver was crossing over Chesapeake Boulevard to continue on Middleton Place when it was struck by the other vehicle, an SUV, traveling southbound on Chesapeake Boulevard.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash.
