NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk police said a contract worker at the City Jail was arrested on Monday in connection with transporting drugs.

According to officials, 30-year-old Takeyah Gosha worked as a contractor inside the Norfolk City Jail to deliver canteens to inmates. After an investigation, it was found that Gosha was delivering controlled substances to the inmates during her rounds.

A photo of Gosha and the confiscated drugs can be found below:

According to a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office, the drugs in the photo above are suboxone, a type of opioid.

Gosha was arrested and charged with delivering drugs to a prisoner committed to the jail, which is a class five felony.

“Our STU Team has ensured the safety of our jail operations,” Sheriff Baron said. “It is our expectation that all employees and contractors will behave with integrity. The arrest of Ms. Gosha is an example of how we will hold ourselves and our contractors accountable when they act outside the law and / or our expected values.”

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
