NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One man is dead and another has been charged with second-degree murder after a shooting in Norfolk, according to police.
Just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the Wawa at 975 E. Little Creek Road for the report of a gunshot victim.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The man, identified as Micah L. Bell, 37, of Portsmouth, was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
A short time later, police were called to the Wawa at 6301 N Military Highway for the report of a second gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from non life-threatening injuries, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Detectives were able to determine that the two incidents were related and discovered that the shooting happened the 1800 block of E Little Creek Road.
The investigation also led police to charge 28-year-old Miquail D. Owens, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.
Owens remains in the hospital, but upon his release, he will be transported to Norfolk City Jail and held without bond.
At this time, detectives have not released a motive or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
