NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man arrested Tuesday in Norfolk had fired in the direction of plainclothes police officers conducting a narcotics investigation, authorities say.

Police say Britt fired at the officers in the 900 block of Denhart Street, across from Huntersville Park, around 5:12 a.m.

Afterward, officers were outside a home on Denhart with guns drawn and yelling for someone inside to come out with their hands up, and eventually moved to shut down both directions of Tidewater Drive around 8 a.m. for the investigation. Britt was taken into custody around 9 a.m. without incident and is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.
