NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say two men were hospitalized after a shooting at a shopping center across from Norfolk State University on Friday afternoon.
After arriving at Norfolk General, police say Calvin A. Durham II, 37, of Norfolk, died from his injuries.
Police have also identified the other man as 42-year-old Fareed I. Nelson-Luckett, from Norfolk. They say he was responsible for the shooting.
A police spokesperson said the call came in at 12:35 p.m. for the shooting in the 1500 block of E. Brambleton Avenue. The shooting happened in the area of the Kappatal Cuts barbershop, WAVY’s Jason Marks reports.
Nelson-Luckett has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm. He remains in the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He will, however, be transported to Norfolk City Jail when released.
