Norfolk offers free rides to fans for Savannah Bananas games

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Baseball fans are encouraged to ride the Tide and ferry for Savannah Bananas games this weekend.

The City of Norfolk is offering free rides to fans to help them avoid congestion and limited parking.


Free rides will be available four hours before each game on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as two hours after each game. 

Trains will operate about every 10 minutes before and after each game. Special ferry service will run every 30 minutes beginning four hours before each game and will end one hour after each game.

The Bananas will play at Harbor Park on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m.

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will begin light rail and ferry service as follows:

It’s a busy weekend in Downtown Norfolk. Along with the three sold-out Savannah Bananas games, more events are taking place in the area.

The 41st annual Jazz Festival at Town Point Park will bring in thousands on Friday and Saturday evening to Town Point Park.

The city of Norfolk encourages guests to use Brambleton Ave. to St. Paul’s Blvd. or to Boush St. to avoid heavy congestion along Waterside Dr.
