NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 40-year-old man will spend the next 20 years in a Norfolk prison after he was found guilty of three felony child sexual abuse charges.
Deionn Gregory was sentenced on Friday after he was convicted of sexually abusing a child between the ages 10 and 13. The victim reported the abuse two years after it stopped and she no longer had regular contact with him.
On April 12, a jury convicted Gregory of the forcible sodomy of a victim under age 13, aggravated sexual battery, and taking indecent liberties with a child under age 15.
On Friday, Gregory was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison and suspended another 10 years on the conditions that he complete three years of supervised probation and 20 years of uniform good behavior following his release.
“Children are often our most vulnerable victims, and the people who victimize them must face the consequences,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “Mr. Gregory’s sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the need to protect the community. Thank you to the survivor of Mr. Gregory’s crimes for having the courage to come forward and help us hold Mr. Gregory accountable.”
