NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A major water leak shut down a medical building in Norfolk.
WAVY has confirmed the Medical Tower at 400 Gresham Drive is the structure impacted by the water leak.
A spokesperson for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) told WAVY the building will be closed “for the foreseeable future.” A Google search currently lists it as permanently closed.
On Jan. 6, a heating system pipe burst, causing water damage to several floors.
The spokesperson said CHKD was already planning to relocate its offices in the Medical Tower to other facilities; this incident moved up that timeline.
Patients received an email explaining that the water leak caused the building to be evacuated and ultimately closed.
WAVY received a copy of the email Innovation Cardiology sent its patients stating that it would be temporarily relocating its practice to the ground floor of CHKD, which is on the same campus as its now closed office. The CHKD address is 601 Childrens Lane.
There will be signage at the hospital directing patients to the temporary office.
The email advised patients to use parking deck A at the CHKD visitor lot and to get their parking passes validated before leaving their appointments.
“Our small team at Innovation Cardiology remains steadfast in our commitment to delivering exceptional care for our nearly 2000 patients. We are diligently working to minimize clinical disruptions to our practice.”
