NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police responded to a barricade situation in Norfolk Sunday afternoon.
Sunday around 1 p.m., officers were called to the 5200 block of Janet Drive for reports of someone with a weapon.
Officers arrived to the scene and determined that the man was experiencing a mental health crisis. The man was taken into custody by the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Operations Team shortly after 4 p.m.
A viewer sent in photos of the scene.
The man was transferred to a local hospital to receive medical treatment.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
