Man dies from injuries after shooting on Berkley Avenue Ext. in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One person was injured and another later died after a shooting on Berkley Avenue Ext. in Norfolk.

Police said the shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Berkley Avenue Ext.

Officers arrived to find a 22-year-old man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. A woman was also injured.

The man, identified as Jaivon R. Brittingham, 22, of Norfolk, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died, police said in an update Thursday.

The woman is expected to be OK.

Police didn’t release any information on any suspects or a possible motive.

The shooting was the second of two within about five minutes of each other in Norfolk. The other shooting was around 10:40 p.m. on Woodview Avenue, in a different part of the city.
