NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Can you guess Norfolk International Airport’s most popular routes from 2023?

Based on data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the most traveled route from Norfolk International Airport was to and from Orlando International Airport (MCO). Each day in 2023, an average of about 308 people flew each way.


After the route to Orlando, the second most traveled route was to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. About 228 passengers traveled per day, each way in 2023.

For passengers traveling from Norfolk to San Diego, they had to connect. Data showed the need for a nonstop flight, according to Norfolk International Airport. Now, that route is flying via Breeze Airways.

In March, Breeze Airways announced upcoming nonstop flight destinations from Norfolk: San Diego, Phoeniz, Arizona, and Pensacola, Florida.

The nonstop flights to Pensacola will take place on Mondays and Fridays starting June 28, according to Breeze. The nonstop flights to Phoenix will fly seasonally, on Thursdays and Sundays starting in October 2024.

Earlier this year, Breeze also announced additional nonstop routes to begin spring 2024, listed below.

Other airlines are also adding nonstop flight paths.

Starting June 2, Frontier Airlines will have a route to San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico. The flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Find out more on Frontier’s website.
