NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Three Newport News men were convicted, by a federal judge, Tuesday for a violent and deadly crime spree that span almost a year.
Court documents show that between January 2017 and November 2017, Ronzel Monte Dixie, 31, Kwaimain Shy’de Redmon, 30, and Meko Montez Brown Jr., 26, along with others were responsible a number of violent crimes including multiple murders, commercial robberies, drug robberies and stolen vehicles that involved high-speed police chases.

Dixie shot and killed the man from the passenger window of their vehicle. After the shooting, Dixie and Redmon took the victim’s wallet.
Later that day, Dixie, Redmon, and the other individual arrived at the Happy Shopper convenience store in Hampton as it was closing. After demanding money, the third individual shot the store owner in the face, and Dixie executed a store employee by shooting him in the back of the head while he lay face down in the parking lot.
On Nov. 8, 2017, Dixie, Brown, and another individual shot and killed a man at 9:20 p.m. and then shot an off-duty correctional officer 11 minutes later during an attempted robbery.
Dixie bragged that he killed the first man because his nickname was “Wavy 10” and he wanted 10 bodies to his name.
Two days later on Nov. 10, Dixie, Brown, Redmon and another person stole a Cadillac in Newport News. Brown shot and killed driver of the Cadillac after the man attempted to follow them, then he hit another vehicle while trying to drive out of the parking lot.
An hour later, Brown tried to rob a victim who was walking into his apartment. During the robbery, Brown fired a P9 Kahr at the victim, but missed. The victim tried to return fire but his gun jammed.
After Brown and the other men fled the scene, Dixie shot and killed a homeless person while shouting, “My gun does not jam.”
