NEWPORT NEWS Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man has life-threatening injuries after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday morning on Manor Road, just off Warwick Boulevard.
The shooting happened in an apartment complex parking lot.
Police announced a quick arrest in connection with this case. 26-year-old Kelmin Marcell Patton was originally charged with possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon. On April 1, police announced additional charges:
- shooting, stabbing, with the intent to maim, kill, etc.,
- attempted shooting, stabbing etc., with intent to maim, kill, etc. (2x)
- Shooting at or throwing missiles, etc., at a train, car, vessel, etc.
- Use or display of a firearm in committing a felony
- Willfully discharging a firearm in a public place
- Reckless handling of a firearm
- Shooting in or across a road or in a street
- Possession or transportation of firearms, firearms ammunition, stun weapons, explosives or concealed weapons by a convicted felon
The shooting was in the 400 block of Manor Road, which is near the intersection with Warwick. Police said they got the call at 9:37 a.m.
Police initially said they were searching for two other persons of interest but say they are not longer looking for them.
The shooting remains under investigation.
