NNPD seeks public’s assistance to identify 7-Eleven robbery suspect

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are asking for the public’s help with identifying a robbery suspect.

On Friday, July 5 just before 1 a.m., officers responded to a 7-Eleven on the 9500 block of Warwick Boulevard for a robbery.


The store clerk told NNPD, that the suspect was not wearing a shirt when he entered the store. According to police, the clerk told the suspect that shirts are required inside the business and asked him to leave.

The store clerk told police that the suspect became angry and began throwing bananas in the direction of the sales counter.

At some point, the suspect pulled from his waistband and threatened to harm the employees and rob the business, according to the store clerk’s account of what happened.

The suspect is described as being between 5 feet 9 inches tall with a distinctive tattoo on his chest.
