NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night that left a man dead.
The call came in just before 7:15 p.m. for a shooting in the 13200 block of Sojourner Court in Newport News.
Police said that when they arrived on the scene they found a man, 39-year-old Curtis Emanuel Cooper, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Cooper was from the 600 block of Birch Avenue in Hampton, police say.
No further information is available at this time, but police say the investigation is ongoing.
