Man seriously hurt after shooting in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Newport News Thursday night, police said.

Police responded around 7:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert in the 26th Street and Chestnut Avenue. While in route, the call was upgraded to a shooting and police found a man injured with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
