Police identify woman killed on 33rd St. in Newport News Thursday morning

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News Police say the deadly shooting on 33rd Street was domestic related.

On Thursday, police dispatch received the first call about the shooting at 8:42 a.m.


Officers were called out to the 1100 block of 33rd Street to investigate. They arrived to find 35-year-old Tahesha Saunders outside a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The Newport News woman died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have not named a suspect in this case, but said it appears to be ‘domestic in nature.’
